Marvel Comics has been revamping its storylines lately. They recently have been working on bringing in their characters into the twenty-first century with their Season One line of graphic novels. Spider-Man: Season One is part of this collection. 

Taking from the good ol’ days of Stan Lee writing, this story brings Peter Parker to his roots. It retells his origin, but stays close to the original story. It shows him being bitten by a spider, his wrestling days, his appearance on TV, and then that fateful day with his Uncle Ben. It leads into his first battles with some of his supervillains including Adrian Toomes aka The Vulture. It is a harrowing adventure featuring the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. 

Written by Cullen Bunn and featuring illustrations by Neil Edwards, this graphic novel is great modernized version of Spider-Man’s origin. I’m glad they did not go the politically correct way of The Ultimates story, but instead brought Spidey to what makes him a great character.
