‘Pillowcase Murders’ True Crime TV Series Review

Pillowcase Murders is a three-part true crime documentary series from Paramount that would eventually stream to Paramount Plus. It examines the story of prolific serial killer Billy Chemirmir.

In the DFW area, Texas police are baffled by the sudden deaths of several senior men and women in 2017. At first, the death of the victims appears to be because of natural causes. As more deaths are deemed suspicious over time, it becomes clear that one person is responsible. The police soon begin looking for a suspect known as Billy Chemirmir as he seems connected to many of the deaths.

This is a very compelling true crime documentary series. Every episode keeps you on the edge of your seat. At the time, I was living in California when this case was happening, but having relatives in Texas, I was deeply concerned over the information regarding this case. This show definitely brought back the feeling of fear that Chemirmir brought to his victims and their families.

That was something I appreciated about the series. It focused on the victims and the impact their tragic deaths had on their families while also keeping a stable timeline of events. You got frustrated at times with investigators’ lack of empathy, but feel satisfied that justice was served by the arrest, trial, and sentencing of Chemirmir, not to mention his fate.
